CHAPTER 1 OF 4 · Starting points and dated milestones

1. A new primary school in 2008

Back to contents

The Heritage Centre records the establishment of the co-educational primary school in 2008 and includes a photograph captioned as campus construction in 2007. Its founding principal was Phua Kia Wang.

Construction and school operation are different stages. The photograph helps readers see the physical preparation; the establishment year identifies the institution’s operational beginning. Use the caption’s date without treating it as the school’s first teaching year.

2. The official opening in 2010

Back to contents

The official record dates the inauguration to 24 September 2010. This came after the 2008 beginning and belongs as a separate milestone on a timeline.

For a student’s notes, two labels are enough: “2008—established” and “2010—official opening”. That keeps a ceremony from replacing the earlier start of school life.

3. Arts, digital learning and upgrading

Back to contents

MOE’s history records a Visual Arts Learning for Life Programme in 2013 and an Applied Learning Programme focused on digital creators in 2014. It dates PERI upgrading from 2017 to completion in 2019, followed by MOE Kindergarten commencement in 2020.

These milestones show several kinds of development: curriculum, physical facilities and a new educational stage on campus. A timeline becomes more informative when each entry says what changed, rather than listing years alone.

Read the Heritage Centre’s dated images alongside its chronology, then compare them with the school’s current official material. Historical programme names and older photographs should retain their original context.

A family can make three headings in a notebook—building, learning and community—and sort the milestones underneath. For current programmes, visits or admissions, consult official school channels. Historical records do not imply public access to the campus.
