Three short chapters
BCA credits DCA Architects and records the development’s 2017 GoldPLUS recognition. That is an award milestone, not a first-occupation date.
A design-history record gives us another way to understand a neighbourhood. Alongside asking when people arrived, we can ask which physical problems the designers had to solve.
The profile describes planning for the terrain difference and spaces intended for different generations.
Imagine drawing two destinations on paper, then placing one higher than the other. The connection now needs more thought than a straight line. Our interpretation is that the project illustrates why access is about the whole journey through a place, not simply its entrance.
Choose two points on a public map and ask what you would need to know before calling the route between them easy. Distance is one answer; changes in level, shelter and resting opportunities are other questions worth investigating.
Jewel is a private residential development. Explore its history through the published profile and public surroundings, rather than entering residents’ facilities without permission. Historical recognition does not guarantee that a particular present-day route meets an individual visitor’s needs.
