The operator’s annual report states that Sengkang LRT’s West Loop opened for revenue service in January 2005. Its network map includes Thanggam.
That is the dated milestone used here. The report establishes a month for the loop’s service start; this article does not turn it into an independently verified exact-day opening claim for every station.
The report also records the rationalisation of bus Services 84 and 371 following the Sengkang West Loop and Punggol East Loop openings, because the services overlapped with LRT routes.
This helps explain why transport history is more than a sequence of station openings. A new connection can change how the surrounding network is organised. The 2005 bus account is historical, not a description of today’s service patterns.
Find Thanggam on a current map and trace its connection towards Sengkang. Then compare the map with the older network shown in the report. Ask what the older document can establish and what it cannot tell you about today.
Check current LTA and operator notices before travelling. Avoid treating historical maps as route instructions, and do not assume that a loop’s original operating arrangements remain unchanged. A short, purposeful journey can be enough for the observation exercise.
