NLB states that Renjong station was named after the now-expunged Lorong Renjong. The documented connection is to an earlier road name.
A surviving name is not the same as a surviving road alignment. This source does not, on its own, tell us exactly where every part of the old road ran relative to today’s station.
When a road disappears from a modern map, its name can remain in another form. Our interpretation is that Renjong offers a compact example of continuity through naming rather than through an unchanged streetscape.
That makes it different from a station name referring to a plant or a boat. Before interpreting a place name, it helps to ask what kind of thing it originally pointed to.
For a home-based history activity, look for a dated historical map through an archive or library and compare it with a current map. Record the date, scale and landmarks before drawing conclusions about an old road.
Treat a matching word as a clue, not as proof that two locations coincide. During a local outing, stay on public routes and follow present-day signs. An expunged road name is not a suggested path to explore on foot.
