Follow the school’s journey
Fern Green Primary School began operations in 2018 and held its official opening on 30 August 2021. Its own history page records both dates and describes how its early leadership helped shape the school’s identity. This newer Sengkang school has a short, clear timeline that is easy to explore with young readers.

Chapters 1–2 · Beginnings and development
Chapters 3–4 · Milestones and local learning
Fern Green’s official history identifies 2018 as the start of operations. That is the beginning to use when describing when the school started teaching, rather than the later official-opening date.
A school’s early years include more than a finished building. Staff and pupils begin creating everyday habits, shared experiences and a sense of belonging. The operational year provides the starting point for that part of the story.
The school names Mrs May Tang-Chim Lee Mai as its pioneering principal, with a tenure recorded as 2018–2022. It credits her period of leadership with the development of the vision, mission, uniform, crest and school song.
Those elements are a useful way to think about institutional identity. A uniform is worn, a crest is recognised and a song is shared. Together, they give students forms of belonging that can continue beyond an individual school year.
CHAPTER 3 OF 4 · Milestones and local learning
3. The official opening in August 2021
The school records the official-opening ceremony on 30 August 2021, officiated by Gan Thiam Poh. This date should remain separate from the 2018 operational start.
Try writing two entries rather than one: “2018—began operations” and “30 August 2021—officially opened”. Accurate labels make the story simple without inventing a reason for the interval between the milestones.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4 · Milestones and local learning
4. Exploring through the school’s own records
The published history includes a timeline and accounts of early leadership. Use these as starting points, checking what each caption or entry actually establishes before adding it to a student’s notes.
A family can choose one identity element and ask why a new school needs it. For current programmes, open houses, admissions or visits, consult the school’s present official information. Read the historical material online; it does not imply permission to enter the campus.
