Anchor Green Primary School was established in December 2007 and began teaching on 2 January 2008 at 31 Anchorvale Drive. Its official anniversary account records nine classes across Primary One to Three and 273 pupils at the start. The school’s later facilities and environmental-learning milestones add further chapters to that beginning.

CHAPTER 1 OF 4 · Beginnings and development

1. Preparing a school, then welcoming pupils

Back to contents

The school identifies Mrs Dhillon Awtar Singh as its founding principal. Its account connects the establishment with the growing number of young families in Sengkang and describes the school’s crest, song and motto taking shape in its early years.

December 2007 and January 2008 answer different questions: when the institution was established, and when pupils began attending. Keeping both gives the early story a clear sequence rather than forcing it into a single date.

2. The official opening in 2009

Back to contents

Anchor Green’s account dates its official opening to 2 October 2009, officiated by Dr Lam Pin Min. Teaching had already started in the previous year.

A ceremony is a milestone in a working school’s life. For a family timeline, use separate labels for establishment, first school day and official opening. It is a small habit that makes local-history notes much more accurate.

3. Facilities added over time

Back to contents

The school records an indoor sports hall in 2011 and a kindergarten annex completed under PERI upgrading in 2018. It dates the first intake of MOE Kindergarten pupils to 2019.

Construction and first intake are separate events too. A finished block is the physical preparation; the arrival of children begins its daily educational life. That distinction helps readers understand how a campus can expand in stages.

4. Environmental learning in the school’s story

Back to contents

The anniversary account dates SLEEC—Serve and Lead through Environmental Education—as its Learning for Life Programme to 2014. This is a documented programme milestone, not a claim that every present activity follows an unchanged schedule.

Use it as a starting point for a conversation about how schools develop an identity beyond their buildings. Check current official channels for programmes and visits. The historical account is especially useful for asking what the school added after its first pupils arrived.
