Compassvale Primary School was established on 4 January 1999, but its first home was a holding site at Seng Kang Primary School. A second temporary home followed at Rivervale Primary before the move to its own premises on 13 November 2000. Its history shows how a school could serve families while its building was still being completed.

CHAPTER 1 OF 4 · Beginnings and campus journey

1. Beginning at another school

Back to contents

The official history identifies Seng Kang Primary as Compassvale Primary’s first holding site. That means the newly established school began operating before it occupied its own completed campus.

Keep the host school and the new school distinct in your notes. Sharing premises is not the same as sharing a founding date or being one institution. It is a practical arrangement that belongs in the new school’s early timeline.

2. A second temporary home

Back to contents

In January 2000, Compassvale Primary shifted to a holding site at Rivervale Primary because its building remained under construction. The move into its own premises came on 13 November that year.

Three locations make this story especially clear on a simple map. Label them first holding site, second holding site and permanent premises. Then add dates, keeping the January 1999 establishment separate from the November 2000 move.

3. Opening and upgrading milestones

The school records its official opening on 21 October 2001. It also describes on-site upgrading from June 2011 to December 2012 and single-session operation from January 2013.

These later dates show that a campus keeps changing after its first opening. School history includes improvements and changes to daily organisation, as well as the early construction and relocation story.

The school’s contact page lists 21 Compassvale Street as its address. Compare that with Seng Kang Primary’s Compassvale Walk address: the similar street names can easily be mixed up.

For a family history activity, make a four-entry timeline covering establishment, temporary move, permanent move and official opening. Use published records and public routes to understand the setting. Confirm current school access, activities and admissions through official channels rather than treating this historical account as a visitor guide.
