Transport Sengkang | Sengkang Transport Options to Seletar Airport, Seletar Aerospace Park and Jalan Kayu by Bus 102 and Taxi

Seletar Airport is one of the easiest nearby aviation destinations to reach from Sengkang by ordinary bus. SBS Transit service 102 stops at Sengkang MRT, runs through Anchorvale, Fernvale and Jalan Kayu, and serves Seletar Airport bus stop 68239 on Seletar Aerospace Avenue. The airport’s own website directs passengers to board bus 102 at Sengkang MRT Exit D, Bus Stop 2; the operator identifies the Seletar-bound stop as 67409 ‘Sengkang Stn’ on Sengkang East Way.

Seletar Airport’s main terminal address is 21 Seletar Aerospace Road 1, Singapore 797405. The public bus stops on the nearby road network, not inside a railway station. There is no MRT station named Seletar Airport. A person flying from Seletar should use the airport terminal name on the booking rather than assume the airport is reached by a train from Sengkang.

This guide compares the direct 102 bus, taxi/private hire, stops around Jalan Kayu and Seletar Aerospace Park, operating hours and the most common expensive mistake: confusing Seletar Airport with Changi Airport. The two airports serve different flights and have different transport routes.

Sengkang to Seletar Airport: the fast answer

  • Bus to airport: SBS Transit 102, board at Sengkang Station (67409) on Sengkang East Way towards Fernvale, Jalan Kayu and Seletar Airport.
  • Airport alighting stop: 68239, Seletar Airport, on the Seletar Aerospace Avenue corridor, then follow official terminal signs.
  • Airport address: 21 Seletar Aerospace Road 1, 797405 for taxi or navigation.
  • Also served by bus 102: parts of Compassvale, Anchorvale, Fernvale, Sengkang West Way and Jalan Kayu, depending on the direction.
  • For Seletar Aerospace Park jobs: ask for the company gate and full office address; the airport terminal stop is not automatically the closest stop to every business.
  • For Jalan Kayu shophouses: service 102 has a named Jln Kayu Shophouse (68031) stop on the outbound route.
  • For a flight: check whether your ticket says Seletar (XSP) or Changi (SIN). They are different airports.

How to board bus 102 near Sengkang MRT

According to Seletar Airport’s official transport page, a Sengkang MRT passenger can use bus 102 from Exit D, Bus Stop 2. SBS Transit’s detailed route calls the Seletar-bound stop 67409 Sengkang Stn on Sengkang East Way. That is a useful specific check because nearby station exits and bus stops serve multiple directions; a passenger who boards the reverse 102 may travel towards Buangkok or Hougang instead.

  1. At Sengkang MRT (NE16/STC), check the station signs for Exit D and the bus 102 boarding point on Sengkang East Way.
  2. Check the bus-stop sign or current arrival app for service 102 towards Seletar Aerospace Park and confirm that 67409 is the correct stop for that direction.
  3. Board and keep an eye on the stop sequence. The 102 route passes Sengkang East Way, Sengkang West Way, Fernvale Road, Sengkang West Avenue, Sengkang West Road and Jalan Kayu before entering Seletar Aerospace Park.
  4. Alight at Seletar Airport (68239), then follow terminal signs to the passenger entrance at 21 Seletar Aerospace Road 1.
  5. For the return, follow airport-side bus signs for the 102 loop back to Sengkang and Hougang; at the Sengkang station area the operator’s return route lists Opp Sengkang Stn/Blk 260A (67401).
  6. Check any final LRT, MRT or bus connection after you reach Sengkang before beginning a late return.

A common error is to say ‘bus 102 starts from Sengkang Interchange’. The operator lists Hougang Central Interchange as the service origin. It runs through Sengkang and is convenient for the town centre, but it does not mean every Sengkang interchange berth has a 102 queue. Confirm the roadside stop and direction.

The full 102 corridor is useful for more than one neighbourhood

From Hougang, service 102 calls at Buangkok MRT Exit A (67609), stops on Compassvale Road, then Sengkang Station (67409), Sengkang East Way, Sengkang West Way and Fernvale. The official outward stop list also includes Opp Hockey Stadium (67549), Blk 436A (67639), Fernvale Primary School (67499) and stops around the Sengkang West neighbourhood before Jalan Kayu.

These named stops help a Sengkang resident choose an origin without backtracking to the MRT station. Someone living a short distance from a Fernvale Road stop may have a direct bus to Seletar Airport. Someone starting in Rivervale may first need to reach the relevant part of the 102 corridor or transfer via the town centre.

The return route uses the corresponding opposite-side road stops and passes the Sengkang station area again before continuing to Buangkok and Hougang. The name of the stop can change between directions; save the actual five-digit stop number from the official eGuide.

Bus 102 timetable: first and last buses versus your stop time

SBS Transit’s official bus 102 schedule lists the first bus leaving Hougang Central at 5:30am and the last bus from that origin at 11:30pm, on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays/public holidays. Those are departure times at Hougang Central, not departure times from Sengkang or Seletar Airport. The first bus cannot reach every later stop at 5:30am.

The same page provides time-of-day frequency bands. On weekdays the listed frequency is roughly 9–11 minutes during the morning peak, 9–13 minutes through much of the day, 10–12 minutes during evening peak, and 12–16 minutes after 7pm, at the origin. Actual stop times are affected by the loop’s length and traffic. Check the live arrival display for the specific stop when travelling.

If you have a flight, the important question is not only ‘Is there an early bus?’ but ‘Does the scheduled bus get me to the correct airport terminal early enough for my airline’s check-in cutoff?’ Allow time for walking from the stop, security and any luggage handling. Never plan a flight around an optimistic average bus frequency.

Is service 102A or 102B a safe substitute?

SBS Transit also shows short-working variants 102A and 102B in its service family. Do not assume a vehicle displaying 102A or 102B completes the same route and reaches Seletar Airport. Before boarding, confirm the actual advertised destination and stop list. The core full 102 service is the published Seletar Airport connection.

The letters matter because a short-working service may terminate before your intended stop. The same issue occurs around Singapore with many bus route variants. A commuter who checks the exact destination display avoids an unnecessary detour.

Seletar Airport is not Changi Airport

This is the most expensive possible confusion in the guide. Seletar Airport is commonly identified by IATA code XSP, while Singapore Changi Airport is SIN. A travel itinerary, airline app or e-ticket should identify the actual departure airport. An international flight from Singapore does not automatically mean Changi, and a Seletar-area job meeting does not automatically mean the passenger terminal.

Seletar Airport’s official commercial-flight page specifically lists Firefly services to Subang in its passenger information. It publishes check-in times for those flights, but the flight schedule, ticket and airline instructions must be checked for the travel date. An attraction or aviation-related activity elsewhere in the Seletar area may not be a publicly accessible terminal service.

If your ticket names Changi Airport Terminal 1, 2, 3 or 4, use our Sengkang to Changi Airport guide, not bus 102 to Seletar. Do not change airports based on a map app selecting the word ‘Seletar’ as a suburb.

What Seletar Airport’s passenger page tells you

Seletar Airport’s official passenger pages have separate arrival, departure and flight-information sections. Under its current commercial-flight listing, Firefly services to Subang have an indicated check-in window from two hours before to 30 minutes before departure, subject to the airline’s latest requirements. That is a specific published reference, not a universal rule for every possible aircraft operator or private flight.

Before leaving Sengkang, check the operating airline, confirmed flight number, airport, correct terminal, luggage rules, check-in cutoff and necessary travel documents. If your journey is for work in a restricted airport facility, an appointment or security clearance may be necessary even if public bus 102 passes nearby. A public bus stop does not grant access to secure premises.

Seletar Aerospace Park: industrial and office visits use a different last leg

Seletar Aerospace Park is a major aviation-industry area containing industrial and business buildings. The Seletar Airport terminal is just one location within the wider precinct. The official 102 stop sequence includes Before Baker Street (68099), Opp Seletar Camp (68209), Seletar Airport (68239) and subsequent loop stops along Seletar Aerospace Drive.

If your employer gives a full address on Seletar Aerospace Drive, Avenue or Road, check which 102 bus stop is closest to that entrance. Factory and workshop premises can have secured gates, limited pedestrian access and entrances that do not match a broad geocoded pin. Do not arrive at the passenger terminal expecting it to be the reception for an unrelated aerospace company.

A job applicant should save the building’s street number, company name, unit, visitor check-in point and contact person. A taxi can be a useful fallback when the office is distant from a suitable 102 stop, but there is no reason to invent a universal fixed fare for every Sengkang address.

Jalan Kayu: food visits and short outings by 102

Sengkang residents also use the Seletar-bound corridor for Jalan Kayu. SBS Transit’s route lists Jln Kayu Shophouse (68031) in the outward direction before the road continues towards the Aerospace Park. That makes bus 102 one transport option for visiting Jalan Kayu eateries and shops from the Sengkang West side.

Jalan Kayu is a street, not one shop. A restaurant may be nearer a different stop or side of the road. Enter the exact business address, opening time and entrance rather than simply telling a group to meet at ‘Jalan Kayu’. For late meals, verify the final 102 service and a safe homeward route.

The same corridor includes residential crossings and park-adjacent links. Observe bus-stop and traffic rules. A short leisure visit does not need to turn into an airport trip merely because the bus continues there.

Taxi, private-hire and driving from Sengkang

Seletar Airport publishes 21 Seletar Aerospace Road 1, Singapore 797405 as the terminal address. Its transport page lists road approaches through the TPE via Jalan Kayu, CTE via Seletar West Link and SLE via Seletar West Link. These are useful for drivers, but live traffic, construction and local signage determine the appropriate turn.

The airport lists a taxi stand outside its Departure Hall and app-based private-hire pickups from the designated Arrival pickup point. It also lists an all-day airport taxi surcharge of S$3 for trips originating from Seletar Airport, subject to the current operator rules. The actual meter fare, booking charge, peak surcharge or ride-hailing price is additional and should be checked at the time.

For families carrying luggage, a direct vehicle may be sensible even though bus 102 is available. A passenger who begins near the 102 stop and travels lightly may prefer public transport. The decision depends on travel time, luggage, flight check-in and accessibility. Neither mode can be described as reliably fastest without the date, time and precise origin.

A practical Sengkang to Seletar Airport departure checklist

  1. Read your ticket. Confirm it says Seletar Airport, not Changi.
  2. Identify the airline check-in cutoff. Plan backwards from it, not just the flight departure time.
  3. Choose the 102 boarding stop. Sengkang station 67409 is one option; Fernvale or West-side stops may be closer.
  4. Check the complete service. Do not assume every 102A/102B short-working bus serves the terminal.
  5. Allow for the bus-to-terminal walk. The bus stop is not a direct rail platform inside the airport.
  6. Prepare valid payment and documents. Seletar Airport’s public-transport page describes EZ-Link or exact cash payment; check current SimplyGo guidance for other accepted methods.
  7. Have a backup. If the estimated arrival is too close to check-in, choose a legitimate alternative rather than risk missing the flight.

Three examples of using the Sengkang–Seletar corridor

A Fernvale resident taking an early commercial flight

The traveller confirms the departure airport is Seletar and checks airline requirements. They identify the first usable bus 102 from the nearest Fernvale-side stop rather than returning to central Sengkang, then calculate the terminal arrival with a suitable buffer. If the first bus would be too late, they arrange a taxi or appropriate vehicle instead.

An engineer interviewing at an aerospace company

The engineer receives an address on Seletar Aerospace Drive. Instead of selecting the passenger terminal by default, they check the employer’s office entrance, nearby 102 stop and visitor check-in rule. If the company gate is away from the bus stop, they plan that segment explicitly.

A family going out for dinner at Jalan Kayu

They check the chosen restaurant’s address and confirm that the Jln Kayu Shophouse 102 stop is suitable. Before dinner they check the opposite-direction return stop and final service. Their destination is the food outlet, not Seletar Airport; a good route leaves the family near the actual entrance.

Mistakes to avoid on this corridor

  • Confusing Seletar Airport with Changi Airport and leaving for the wrong flight terminal.
  • Assuming there is a Seletar Airport MRT station or a direct rail link from Sengkang.
  • Boarding bus 102 on the Hougang-bound side of Sengkang Station when heading to Seletar.
  • Treating bus 102’s first departure at Hougang as the exact departure time at Sengkang.
  • Getting onto a short-working 102A or 102B without checking whether it serves Seletar Airport.
  • Using Seletar Airport as the map pin for an employer with a different Aerospace Park gate.
  • Assuming the airport passenger terminal can be visited as an unrestricted sightseeing attraction.
  • Failing to account for a bus-to-terminal walk and airline check-in requirements.
  • Quoting the S$3 published airport taxi surcharge as if it were the entire taxi fare.
