Follow the local story
Outram Secondary School brings a long institutional history into Sengkang. Its official account dates Outram Road School’s opening to 26 February 1906; its current contact page confirms the 2026 transition across York Hill and Anchorvale campuses. A newer campus therefore belongs to a school whose story began elsewhere more than a century earlier.

The school’s history records its 1906 formal opening by Governor Sir John Anderson and its early role as a primary school. It notes the removal of “Road” from the name in 1939.
Keep the institution’s early role attached to its period. Today’s name does not mean the school always taught the same ages or followed the same curriculum.
The official account dates conversion to a Secondary Commercial School to 1 January 1954 and the Outram Secondary School name to 1961. It records the move to York Hill in 1968.
These are three different changes: educational role, name and location. A timeline becomes much easier to read when it tells us which kind of change each date represents.
The school’s history describes new Secondary One admissions at Sengkang from 2026, while earlier cohorts remain at York Hill through 2027. The current contact page lists Anchorvale at 48 Anchorvale Crescent and York Hill at 3 York Hill.
The transition is therefore not a simple claim that every pupil moved together. For any appointment, check the relevant campus directly. The school explicitly asks visitors to confirm the staff or appointment location.
Outram’s story offers a useful neighbourhood question: what travels when a school changes its address? Its name and published history provide continuity, even as a new cohort begins in another part of Singapore.
