Sengkang MRT Station | Exits, LRT Transfers and Things to Do Nearby

Sengkang MRT station (NE16) is the North East Line stop for Sengkang’s town centre and the transfer point for Sengkang LRT. If you are coming for Compass One, the library or a bus connection, begin with the destination name and then choose the exit. A little preparation here can save a surprisingly long walk in the wrong direction.

SBS Transit’s station guide lists Compass One at Exit A and the Sengkang and Compassvale bus interchanges at Exit B. For step-free street access, the operator lists lifts at Exits C and D, as well as a concourse lift serving the MRT and LRT platform levels. Follow on-site signs for the actual route.

Did you know that Sengkang’s LRT is a separate neighbourhood rail system with two loops? The MRT brings you along the North East Line; the LRT distributes journeys into the surrounding estates. This guide explains the transfer, useful nearby stops and an easy way to organise a family visit.

Choose an exit around your destination

Think of an exit as the beginning of the final walk. Exit A is useful to recognise for Compass One, while Exit B is associated with the bus interchanges. Kopitiam Square appears under both A and C in the operator’s guide. The best choice depends on where you are actually going and whether you need a lift.

Before leaving the paid area, read the station map and match your destination to the signs. If you are meeting someone, agree on an exact landmark instead of saying only ‘Sengkang MRT’. A station with several exits can turn a simple meeting into two people waiting on different sides.

For a wheelchair user or family with a pram, plan the lift route first. A destination beside one exit may still be approached more comfortably through another. Ask station staff if a lift is unavailable or the signed route is unclear.

Transfer from MRT to Sengkang LRT

Follow the LRT interchange signs rather than heading straight to a street exit. Check the destination station and loop before boarding; do not assume every train will take the same path through Sengkang.

LTA describes Sengkang LRT as connecting the residential neighbourhoods with the town centre, MRT and bus interchange. Its two-loop arrangement is part of why the town feels connected even when a home is some distance from the main MRT stop.

For a first trip, save the destination station name before you arrive. Read the platform display, compare it with the network map and ask a member of staff when unsure. The aim is a clear route, not memorising every station at once.

Enjoy a compact town-centre outing

A pleasant first visit can be very simple: a library stop, something to eat and one errand. Our Compass One guide and Sengkang Public Library guide help you choose what suits the day.

Keep the first outing close to the town centre if you have young children or a short afternoon. You can explore another neighbourhood on a later trip instead of turning one visit into a race across the estate.

For an outdoor extension, read our Sengkang Riverside Park guide and plan the onward journey separately. The park is a different destination, not a feature inside the MRT station.

Check the return journey

First and last trains vary with direction and day. Use the operator’s current timing page when planning an early start or late return. A last MRT departure does not automatically guarantee a later LRT connection.

Allow for the walk back, lifts and time on the platform. If the outing includes children, leave a small buffer so the last part of the day stays comfortable.

Before travelling, check live service information. This guide explains the station’s usual role; station notices and current operating instructions take priority during disruptions.
