The same time relationship appears with different surface words.
Layer 7: Delay Separates Learning From Short-Term Memory
Return after one or two days without showing the correction. Delayed retrieval asks whether the learner can reconstruct the rule or process from memory.
Correction today → retrieval later → transfer somewhere else.
Layer 8: Change the Surface
A capability is stronger when it survives new names, topics, wording and formats.
- Grammar: from worksheet to original sentence.
- Vocabulary: from list to story, then oral answer.
