How We Teach Primary 3 Science

Primary 3 Science works best when the child learns to slow down before naming the answer. We first make the scene visible: what is present, what changed, what can be observed and which detail is relevant to the question. Only then do we connect the observation to a scientific idea.

Our teaching loop is observe → describe → compare → classify → infer → explain → check. If a child jumps straight from a picture to a memorised keyword, we return to the evidence. If the observation is correct but the explanation is vague, we repair the language that connects evidence to conclusion.

Why three students can be useful at P3 Science

One learner can act as the observer, a second as the classifier, and a third as the evidence checker. The roles rotate. This makes the distinction between “what I noticed”, “how I grouped it” and “why the conclusion fits” visible to the tutor and to the students themselves.
