Review and Real-Life English | 复习与真实英语

You do not need to start again. Find the first weak link, repair it, and continue.

After twenty-seven lessons, the important question is no longer “How many words do I know?” The better question is: What real task can I complete in English?

1. Review is not rereading | 复习不是重新看一遍

Rereading can feel familiar without proving you can use the language. Better review asks you to retrieve and perform.

• Can you say it without looking?
• Can you understand it in a new situation?
• Can you change one detail?
• Can you repair the conversation if something changes?

2. The four-skill check | 听说读写检查

For any pattern, test four directions:

1. Hear it.
2. Say it.
3. Read it.
4. Write it.

A skill can be strong in one direction and weak in another.

3. The first weak link | 第一个卡点

When a task fails, ask where it broke first:

• word unknown
• word known but not heard
• sentence structure unclear
• question misunderstood
• answer known but not produced
• time pressure too high
• repair language missing

Repair the earliest failure, not everything at once.

4. Mission 1: introduce yourself | 任务 1：自我介绍

You should be able to say:

• country/city if you choose
• work/study
• one family fact
• one preference
• one routine

Without notes, speak for one minute about:

31. The three-time-frame test | 过去-现在-未来

This is a major beginner milestone.

32. The statement-question-negative test | 肯定-问句-否定

If you can transform all three directions, grammar control is becoming productive.

33. The number test | 数字测试

Can you accurately hear and say:

34. The location test | 位置测试

Describe a room or map without pointing.

35. The repair test | 修复测试

Can you respond instantly to:

Repair should become automatic.

Can you read:

Do not translate everything. Find the task.

37. The writing test | 写作测试

Can you write:

• a four-sentence introduction
• a short shopping request
• a late-arrival message
• a meeting-change message
• a problem report

38. The listening test | 听力测试

Use reliable beginner audio. After listening once, identify:

• who
• where
• when
• what action
• what changed

These five questions reduce listening overload.

39. The speaking test | 口语测试

Can you complete a task without a script?

• order a drink
• ask directions
• buy a ticket
• make an invitation
• report a problem

40. Accuracy before speed | 先准确，再加速

Fluency built on unstable patterns creates fast errors. Slow, correct retrieval can be accelerated later.

41. Speed after repetition | 重复后加速

Use the same dialogue with one changed variable:

• different time
• different item
• different place
• different problem

This keeps the grammar stable while increasing flexibility.

42. Review by spacing | 间隔复习

A useful pattern:

• same day
• next day
• three days later
• one week later
• two weeks later

The exact schedule can vary; the key is delayed retrieval.

43. Review by interleaving | 混合复习

Do not practise only one topic for an hour. Mix:

• one question
• one negative
• one number
• one sign
• one past sentence
• one future sentence

Keep a small table:

She arrived at work on time. At noon, she ordered lunch and paid by card. In the afternoon, her manager sent a message moving tomorrow’s meeting to 10:30. Mei updated her calendar and replied, “Got it, thanks.” On the way home, she stopped at a shop to exchange a shirt that was too large.

Write ten sentences covering:

53. Speaking practice: two-minute life task | 两分钟综合口语

Choose one:

• shopping trip
• work day
• school day
• travel day
• social plan

Speak without reading full sentences.

54. Self-diagnosis score | 自我诊断

For each mission, mark:

• Green — can do without help
• Amber — can do slowly or with prompts
• Red — cannot yet complete

Return only to the red/amber nodes.

55. Green does not mean finished forever | 绿色不等于永远不用复习

A skill can weaken without use. Recheck green skills after a delay.

56. Amber is useful | Amber 很有价值

Amber tells you the skill exists but needs speed, confidence or retrieval. Do not throw it away and restart.

57. Red means specific repair | Red 要精准修复

Red should lead to one targeted lesson or exercise, not a judgment about your whole English ability.

58. Mandarin support should decrease gradually | 中文辅助逐步减少

Use Chinese when needed for understanding. Then:

3. cover Chinese
4. use English only

Advanced vocabulary cannot replace fast control of:

64. What to do after this lesson | 这课之后怎么办？

Do not restart Lesson 001 automatically. Use your Green/Amber/Red map.

• Green → maintain.
• Amber → practise under time pressure.
• Red → return to the exact owner lesson.

65. For parents and teachers | 给家长和老师

Assess tasks, not only worksheets. Ask whether the learner can complete a journey, purchase, phone call or form with appropriate repair.

Do not treat every error equally. Find the first error that causes communication to fail.

Use bilingual support strategically, then fade it. The goal is not to ban Chinese; the goal is to make English increasingly self-supporting.

Track independence. If the learner can ask for clarification and recover from a mistake, that is a major gain even if grammar is not perfect.

66. Final real-world challenge | 最终真实任务

Complete five missions in one session:

1. buy one item
2. read one sign/notice
3. ask for travel information
4. make one phone/social arrangement
5. report and solve one fictional problem

Use no full script. Use repair language whenever needed.

If you can do this, you have moved beyond a collection of beginner lessons. You now have a small working English system.
