A Tutorial is bounded. It begins, changes something, produces evidence and ends. If the architecture is sound, the learner does not leave as a blank state waiting for the next adult to reconstruct everything.

Handover is the final educational responsibility: make clear what capability is now more available, what remains uncertain, what support still has a legitimate role and what the learner should carry into the next environment.

As development advances, the learner should increasingly be able to say what changed: “I can choose the method now, but I still lose time when the graph is unfamiliar.”

This is a major shift. The learner becomes a carrier of their own learning state rather than depending entirely on adult interpretation.

  • Overloading the receiver: too much history obscures the next useful action.
  • Adult-only continuity: the learner never learns to carry their own state forward.

  1. State the mission that was attempted.
  2. Name what changed.
  3. Identify the strongest evidence.
  4. State what support remains.
  5. Keep unresolved uncertainty visible.
  6. Define the next useful action.
  7. Give the learner as much ownership of that statement as development allows.
