What is PSLE in Sengkang | Sengkang Education Secondary Schools, Cut-Off Points and Six Choices

Which secondary schools should a Sengkang family consider after PSLE? Seven secondary schools are listed for the 2026 Secondary 1 intake within Sengkang: CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent, Compassvale Secondary, Nan Chiau High, North Vista Secondary, Outram Secondary, Pei Hwa Secondary and Seng Kang Secondary. Schools in neighbouring Punggol and Hougang may also be realistic choices. Do not choose by cut-off point alone: the child’s eligible Posting Group, school programme, daily journey and actual preferences matter.

The frequently searched phrase PSLE cut-off points 2026 is easy to misread. The figures in the comparison below describe students who entered Secondary 1 in 2026, using results from the 2025 PSLE. As of 6 November 2026, the 2026 PSLE cohort has not received its results. The final cut-off points for students entering Secondary 1 in 2027 therefore do not yet exist. A previous cohort’s last admitted score is guidance, never a guarantee.

Use this Sengkang-specific guide to understand what the numbers mean, check new local changes including Outram Secondary’s Anchorvale campus, and create a six-choice list without turning a child’s result into a ranking of personal worth. For the national arithmetic behind a result, see the PSLE AL and total score guide.

Quick answers before you read the school table

  • How many schools? Seven Sengkang secondary schools are listed in 2026-entry comparisons, including Outram’s new Anchorvale campus.
  • What does COP mean? Cut-Off Point: the PSLE Score of the last student posted in the relevant group in the previous intake.
  • Is a lower number always a better school? No. A lower numeric score represents a more competitive prior intake, not proof of stronger teaching or greater fit.
  • What does 11M mean? A score of 11 with a Merit in Higher Chinese at the relevant last-place tie condition; the letter is not an extra point to add.
  • Can the 2027 intake have different figures? Yes. Final scores depend on the cohort’s results, choices, available places and any conditions.
  • Does a Sengkang address guarantee a Sengkang secondary school? No. Normal Secondary 1 posting is national rather than an automatic neighbourhood entitlement.

Seven Sengkang secondary schools: indicative cut-offs for 2026 Secondary 1 entry

The table reports the last-admitted PSLE score by Posting Group for the 2026 Secondary 1 intake, compiled from publicly available 2026-entry comparisons, cross-checked between SG Schooling and StudyLah. It is a comparison aid, not an official MOE admission notice. Before submitting choices for the next cohort, check the relevant year and school on MOE SchoolFinder. Figures are not interchangeable across Posting Groups.

These figures are historical records for the 2026 intake, not estimates of a child’s chance in the 2026 PSLE-to-2027 admission exercise. A cell marked “—” means that Posting Group is not separately shown in the cited comparison, not that every child is eligible. For CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent, affiliated and non-affiliated score ranges can differ; the table shows the ordinary non-affiliated figures. Families should check the exact affiliation and admission terms if relevant.

This comparison intentionally keeps the school names in alphabetical order rather than ranking children, families or institutions. In a diverse town, the appropriate school is a school where the student can access a suitable curriculum, make friends and sustain a realistic journey every weekday.

Important local update: Outram Secondary is now a Sengkang option

Outram Secondary School began operating across two campuses in 2026. Its official contact page identifies the Anchorvale campus at 48 Anchorvale Crescent, Singapore 549936, and a separate York Hill campus at 3 York Hill. This matters when older webpages or transport apps still surface only the historic York Hill address.

The school’s own Anchorvale location guide identifies access by bus and via the Sengkang LRT West Loop at Farmway. Families should check which year level is on which campus and verify the designated reporting point for their child. Do not assume the whole school moved in one day.

This is exactly why a local school-choice article must be updated: a family choosing by an out-of-date map entry may reject a viable nearby campus or underestimate a child’s actual journey.

How to read a cut-off point without making a false promise

Example 1: A student receives a PSLE Score of 14

The child is considering Pei Hwa Secondary, for which the previous PG3 last-admitted figure shown above is 14. That does not guarantee admission. It establishes that the student is looking at a school with a historically relevant range, but demand, vacancies, tie-breakers and conditions can change. The family should preserve meaningful preferences and have realistic alternatives.

Example 2: A student receives a PSLE Score of 18

The previous PG3 figures for Compassvale and North Vista Secondary are both 18. That does not mean either school must admit every score-18 applicant. Families should compare each school’s programmes and the commute; then check the current posting rules and rank those they genuinely prefer. A different school with a lower previous intake threshold is not automatically a better learning environment.

Example 3: a child has a choice of Posting Groups

Suppose an eligible student receives a total in a boundary band that permits a choice of initial Posting Group. Comparing the PG3 and PG2 columns as if they were one ranking is misleading. The family must first understand the child’s stated eligibility and how Full Subject-Based Banding supports different subject levels. The existing Posting Groups guide handles the full explanation.

How do school choices and tie-breakers work?

For regular MOE Secondary 1 posting, students may submit up to six choices in genuine order of preference. The school posting process considers the student’s eligibility, PSLE Score and vacancies. When applicants are competing for a place at the same score, MOE’s tie-break order is citizenship, the order of school choices, and computerised balloting if the earlier rules still cannot separate the applicants. A score equal to last year’s COP should not be treated as a reserved ticket.

There is a practical lesson here: if you would genuinely prefer School A to School B, do not list B first merely because you think it is strategically safer. Get the rules from MOE’s Secondary 1 Posting page rather than relying on ranking tricks in parent forums.

Build six choices using school fit, not the most impressive name

A balanced shortlist does not mean six schools chosen from an algorithm without the child. Sit together and write down why each school belongs on the form. Use the family’s actual information: the school’s official 2026/2027 eligibility, programme availability, the student’s learning strengths and the door-to-door journey.

Decision fieldWhat to checkA weak shortcut to avoid
Posting eligibilityActual official PSLE result, Posting Group and special conditionsAssuming all AL scores are directly interchangeable
Historical score rangeThe correct intake year and corresponding PG columnCalling last year’s COP this year’s guarantee
School programmeSubjects, CCAs, applied learning, school values and supportAssuming the most selective school is best for every child
CommuteMorning trip, transfers, after-school return and rainy-day planUsing straight-line distance from home
Child’s preferenceReasons the student wants to attend, not adult prestigeRanking schools without asking the child
Resilience of shortlistMeaningful alternatives across the six choicesFilling every slot with only difficult-entry options

A sample six-choice decision method, not six school recommendations

First write every eligible school the child would genuinely attend. Eliminate only options that are clearly incompatible with eligibility or non-negotiable daily needs. Next, order the remaining schools by real preference. Third, check the correct previous-year score ranges and avoid a list dominated by choices well outside the student’s demonstrated eligibility. Fourth, recheck the school’s official facts and the application form together before submission.

A six-choice form is also a family decision document. If your child loves sports and would be happier in a school with a specific sports CCA, make that fact visible. If a child struggles with very early mornings, the difference between one bus and two transfers deserves attention. These are not minor distractions from academic achievement; they influence attendance, sleep, participation and time available for independent study.

What if your family lives near Sengkang Central, Compassvale, Rivervale, Anchorvale or Fernvale?

Sengkang Central and Compassvale: assess transfers and school start times

Living near the Sengkang MRT/LRT interchange can make several journeys possible but does not make them equally convenient during the school morning. Check whether the route involves an LRT loop, a cross-town bus or an uncomfortable transfer. Do not assume every school with “Seng Kang” or “Compassvale” in its name sits within an easy walk of your block.

Fernvale: proximity is useful only when it matches programme fit

Pei Hwa Secondary is one option that may warrant a closer look for some Fernvale families, but travel convenience alone should not decide the list. The child may have a serious interest in a course or CCA elsewhere. Walk the route and consider a school-day return time rather than weighing only the morning departure.

Anchorvale: check Outram’s current campus, not only the historical address

Outram’s new campus creates a relevant local school-choice question for Anchorvale households. Check the official campus assignment, the relevant intake and the correct entry gate. For other schools, test the LRT/bus connection rather than equating neighbourhood names with transport time.

Rivervale: do not filter away neighbouring towns

North Vista Secondary is one local option, but students in Rivervale can also find practical routes towards neighbouring Hougang or Punggol. Compare real travel patterns and school programmes rather than applying a strict estate boundary. The six-choice exercise is not confined to schools labelled ‘Sengkang’.

Important edge cases: affiliations, Higher Chinese, DSA and citizenship

School affiliation changes which comparison is relevant

An affiliated applicant may see a different historical school score range from a non-affiliated applicant. For example, CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent is commonly shown with an affiliated and non-affiliated range. Do not copy the more generous number and assume it applies without meeting the affiliation conditions.

Higher Chinese annotations are not ordinary AL values

Some SAP-school admissions have Higher Chinese conditions. The suffix “M” in Nan Chiau High’s 11M record refers to Merit in Higher Chinese at the score of the last admitted student. It is not a claim that all score-11 students with any Higher Chinese grade were admitted, and it must not be added to the four-subject total. Check the current official criteria.

DSA-Sec follows an accepted-offer route

A student who has accepted a successful Direct School Admission offer follows the relevant DSA pathway and does not simply make the same regular six-choice submission as everyone else. Families should follow MOE and the admitting school’s specific notices.

Citizenship and vacancies matter when scores tie

Never reduce a posting prediction to the phrase ‘my child got the COP’. MOE’s tie-break rules distinguish candidates in equal-score competition. Without knowing demand and available places, no guide can certify an individual child’s chance.

What if the six preferred schools cannot offer a place?

MOE has further allocation procedures when a student cannot be posted to any selected school, including consideration of schools with vacancies and the student’s address under specified conditions. This is a fallback process, not a reason to omit sensible choices or assume the nearest school is guaranteed. Read the current MOE instructions rather than using a past-year explanation as a contract.

Frequently asked Sengkang PSLE school questions

Which Sengkang secondary school has the lowest 2026-entry PG3 COP?

In the historical 2026-entry comparison, Nan Chiau High is shown at 11M. That is a selectivity measure for one cohort, not a universal measure of educational quality.

Is Outram Secondary School now in Sengkang?

Yes, Outram has an Anchorvale campus at 48 Anchorvale Crescent and began the dual-campus arrangement in 2026. Always check the particular year level and reporting campus.

Does a PSLE Score of 18 guarantee admission to a school with a COP of 18?

No. The COP is a previous-intake result. The new intake depends on applicants, choice order, vacancies, tie-breakers and applicable conditions.

Is CHIJ St. Joseph’s Convent open to boys?

No; it is a girls’ school. It is therefore not a valid option for every candidate. Check SchoolFinder for each school’s published admission information.

Can my child apply to a school in Hougang or Punggol?

Yes, where the student meets the relevant eligibility. School choice is national, not confined to the housing estate.

Should I put a ‘safe’ school first so we get it?

Not solely for that reason. MOE’s process asks for genuine order of preference. Balance the list with realistic options, but rank the schools in the order the family really wants.

What changes for the 2027 intake?

The 2026 PSLE results and completed Secondary 1 posting choices will determine the eventual 2027-entry cut-offs. These figures cannot be known on 6 November 2026. Verify with MOE after the relevant results and posting exercise.
