1. The development in the project record
Did you know that Rivervale Delta’s housing story includes a November 2012 BTO launch? The historical project record lists 884 three-, four- and five-room flats between Rivervale Drive and Rivervale Crescent.
Rivervale Delta history offers a small window into how Sengkang grew: homes were described alongside spaces intended for community activity and care. Those plans tell us what was proposed, while later records tell us different parts of the story.
This guide explains the recorded launch, the everyday meaning of shared facilities and a simple way to read a neighbourhood timeline with children.

Three short chapters
BTOHQ’s secondary project record identifies nine residential blocks and a November 2012 launch. Its linked historical brochure is preserved on the same service.
The account names an RC centre and senior care centre among the proposed facilities. Treat that wording as part of the historical plan; it does not independently confirm present operators, opening hours or services.
The page also contains an estimated completion date. An estimate and an actual completion certificate are different records, so this guide does not turn that field into a confirmed opening date.
Imagine three neighbours with different routines: one walks to work, another looks after a young child and a third needs support nearby. A neighbourhood can be read through those different journeys, rather than through a single assumed resident.
The listed community and care spaces make that a useful interpretation of the plan. They do not prove how any particular household lived or how frequently residents used a facility.
For a family activity, draw an imaginary development with homes and two shared destinations. Let each family member describe a different daily route. The same map may look convenient in one situation and less convenient in another.
Label the drawing as your own model. Its purpose is to explain a relationship, not reproduce Rivervale Delta’s official layout.
Use separate labels for launch, construction, completion and occupation. Each asks a different question: when were homes offered, when were they built, and when did people move in?
A photograph of a finished block cannot, on its own, answer all those questions. Similarly, a launch brochure can show an intention without proving when every part became operational.
Try writing two notebook entries: one sourced statement about the launch, and one dated observation made during a walk. Keep the source and observation visible beside the sentences.
Explore from permitted common areas, follow current signs and respect residents’ privacy. A careful look at the relationship between homes and shared spaces is enough to begin a good local-history conversation.
