Tactic 1:
In our lesson, Yuet Ling teaches English students to hunt for their hints. Hidden with the passage lies the answer to their blanks. The sentence/paragraph leads the reader to the answer.
Tactic 2:
Some blanks are testing commonly used phrases. Students generally find this to be a rather difficult proposition as “common” does not apply to everyone.
Therein lies a major problem in scoring high/full marks, the need to know majority of commonly used phrases in English. With all students who read and speak fluent English, this would not be a problem and they will consistently score higher. It becomes a problem when students do not read as much, and do not speak as much to make these phrases “common” in their everyday use.
Which means Yuet Ling have to start getting students to read and speak a lot more in their every day life.
